How to insert a chart

Select your data including headers

Insert → Charts → choose your type

Or press Alt+F1 for an instant default chart.

Use Chart Design tab to refine

Change type, colours, layout. Add or remove chart elements from the + button.

Essential chart formatting

Keep charts updated automatically

Charts linked to Excel Tables (not plain ranges) update automatically when new data is added. Convert your data source to a Table (Ctrl+T) before inserting the chart.

⚠️ Avoid 3D charts

3D effects make bars look different sizes than they are. The depth distorts comparisons. Use flat 2D charts for any data where accuracy matters.
